A Few Healthy Lifestyle Hacks I use Daily

Shortcuts that help me drink more water and use my nutribullet more often.

No New Year’s resolution here. I’ve never made one before and I’m not about to start now. If I see a need for a change, I do it regardless of what the calendar says. And right now, I know I need to be drinking more water and using my nutribullet more often. In my efforts to make this actually happen I’ve come up with a few tricks to help me out. I’m a mom with 4 little maniacs who are constantly demanding my attention so naturally I’m always looking for easy ways to stay on track. And I thought maybe someone else could benefit from these little tricks! Read on for a few of my healthy lifestyle hacks!

Flavor that water

I always feel better when I drink plenty of water. Adding a little flavor to your water makes it more satisfying and adds a few more benefits! But it’s hard keeping that produce fresh. And if it’s not already cut up the chances of me getting it in the water are slim. Remember those 4 kids I mentioned, not a lot of time for chopping fresh lemon every time I have a water. And if I cut a bunch ahead of time you know they’re just going to go bad before I get to use them! So annoying! To keep my water deliciously flavored and cold I started loading my ice trays with lemon and cucumber.

If you’re like me and don’t have luxury of water right from the fridge I would highly recommend this Drop Pitcher. It works so fast!! No waiting for those slow drip, drip filters.

I just fill a few ice trays with lemon and some with cucumbers. Then I have ice cubes with flavor built in! Much easier to keep filling my cup up!

Getting into that nutribullet habit is a little harder but I came up with a few shortcuts. More healthy lifestyle hacks!

To be honest with you guys (I always am anyways) my routines have been shot since October. Pretty much since I started prepping for Halloween I have found it really hard to focus any attention on myself. Like, to the point where I haven’t eaten breakfast in months (I don’t even want to talk about my morning workouts completely disappearing!) I just can’t find the time! And that’s total bullshit, I know it and it’s not fair. I’m smart enough by now to know that starting my day right sets the tone for the ENTIRE house and everyone in it.

Breakfast should be easy. I love having shakes from my nutribullet. I’m never really hungry in the morning so it’s super easy for me to skip breakfast, which then means I’m starving by lunch (and then the over eating happens). Having a shake for breakfast is perfect solution. But it still somehow seems like too much work or I never have the fresh ingredients, ya know? Sidenote: If you do not have a nutribullet, get one! So versatile, so easy to use and CLEAN! Get one, you won’t regret it!

Solution!

Since my greens were always going bad before I used them all I started to freeze a bunch as soon as I get them home. Just separate them into ziploc baggies and put them right in the freezer. They are frozen fresh and add a little extra cold to your shake. Double bonus!

One trip to Costco and I found a couple more things to help make my shakes easier to make. Their organic berry mix is perfect. They are just as good as fresh plus they make your shake super cold. The colder the shake the better, in my opinion anyway.

I also found these Green Superfood packets. It has all your daily greens plus super fruits AND is organic, non-gmo and Gluten-free. It comes in a powder form so it’s totally perfect for shakes!

30 packets for under $30! They also have a website you can order from here

Between these 3 things all my road blocks to making a delicious, healthy shake are cleared! Everything I need is right at my finger tips. I have no excuse to skip breakfast now!

For anyone curious about what I put in my shake, see below

  • greek yogurt
  • frozen berries
  • frozen greens
  • banana
  • 1/4 – 1/2 apple
  • 1 tbsp ground flax seed
  • 1 packet of super greens
  • tbsp of peanut butter
  • water

It was so easy for me to fall out of my good routine during this holiday season. These 2 goals are the start to getting me back on track. They’re simple but once in place they will pave the way for more healthy habits to form. And hopefully, I’ll be back to getting up early enough to start my morning workouts again soon!
