Family Halloween costume ideas
Fall is rapidly approaching and I am stoked!! I truly love everything that comes with Fall but Halloween is my favorite. Always has been. And once we became a family I couldn’t resist the themed family Halloween costumes. I love getting us all into the fun! We’ve had a few that came together so well I wanted to share them. So read on for some family Halloween costume ideas!
Wizard of Oz Family Halloween Costume
This will always be one of my favorites! As soon as my daughter showed interest in Dorothy, I was all about making this our family Halloween costume. And her little brother, who had just turned 1 at the time, would make the perfect little flying monkey to my wicked witch of the west.
To put this all together I bought a few pieces and used some things I already had. My husband’s scarecrow costume was completely put together from old clothes, hay I had from my fall decorations and glue.
A Witch hat, a broom and black clothes pulled off my Wicked Witch look. You could go the extra and get green face paint too.
A monkey costume plus some small wings turned my little boy into the cutest flying monkey ever. And Dorothy is so classic and easy to find.
Cops and Criminals
This was probably the most fun one we’ve done so far! Having twins was a game changer in every way, including our family Halloween costumes. And for a family with young kids this costume idea is fantastic! It’s simple, inexpensive and freaking adorable. Plus, add in the wagon (Paddy Wagon) and boom! Easier trick or treating too!
The Incredibles
With the sequel coming out last year this one was not only relevant but also very easy to find and/or DIY. I ordered us all the t-shirts. Red sweatpants for the twins worked perfectly. They were warm enough and we got plenty of use out of them just as sweatpants after Halloween was over. I got myself red tights and used high black socks and boots to create my Mrs. Incredible look.
