Somehow, my first born son, my biggest boy, is turning 7 this month!!

It is ridiculous how much he has grown and learned.  And, yet, I still see that chubby little baby when I look at him.  Even though he is now taller than his big sister! So many changes!  So, in true mom fashion, I found myself scrolling through old pictures of my little man that is becoming such a big boy.

When I came to his 1st birthday, I remembered how awesome that party was!  I wasn’t blogging yet then, so, since I am now I thought I would share our Halloween Birthday Party!  If you’re looking to DIY a halloween themed birthday party, read on!  Great ideas ahead!

Centerpieces

For these I used clear glass vases from the dollar store (yep, those are from the dollar store).  And, I used these same vases for his christening so I didn’t even have to buy new ones!  I bought a book of halloween themed cardstock paper.  I cut the paper to size, wrapped it around the vase and secured it with twine.  I ordered the jack-o-lantern balloons and a helium tank from Amazon so we did them ourselves in the morning.  It seems easier and less expensive that way.  I weighted down the balloons in vase, then filled it with hay and DONE!

I ordered these paper lantern jack-o-lanterns and hung them from the ceiling all around the room.  I also used these for his 2nd birthday party and I have them hanging right now in my house for Halloween decorations.  So, they’ve held up pretty well!

Banners

Here’s what the photos looked like as I was making the banner

The happy birthday banner came in a package I order from Etsy.  The package came with a whole bunch of printables.  It was an instant download and super easy to do.  If you want to check out the one I used the link is here.

The photo banner is probably my favorite thing from the whole party.  I printed one photo from each month of his first year.  I used the paper I talked about earlier to matte it.  I cut the pages to size, glued the photos on, hole punched and strung it on twine.  It was so cool to see how he changed each month.  Everyone really enjoyed seeing how much he grow through the year.

Gift Table and Favors

I carved a #1 in a large pumpkin for the gift table.  I loved the way it came out! I also thought this would make a great centerpiece done on a smaller pumpkin.  I left the favors right there on the gift table.  I went with a classic.  Ghost blow pops! Easy and a cute way to say Thanks for celebrating with us!  The tags were in the package I ordered from Etsy.

Games

I brought out the classics for this party!  Mummy wrap, always fun and the kids love the mess they get to make (which is pretty easy to sweep up too)!  Hot Pumpkin, which is just hot potato but with a tiny pumpkin (simple but still super fun).  We also had a few Guess How Many jars.  We did spider rings, candy corn and tootsie rolls.  Games that had winners got to grab a handful of Halloween candy.

This was when I finally finished them!
This is how the set up looked at the party
This sign also came in the printable package I ordered (link above)

Then I had a knock ’em down game.  I used old tin cans to make this game.  I painted and decorated the cans to go with the Halloween theme.  I chose ghosts, jack-o-lanterns, monsters and mummys.  They were pretty fun to make and so much fun for the kids to play!  You can make this game with any theme.  You could pick different characters or just paint them different colors and decorate them with stickers.  As long as they stack good and make noise when they fall, kids will love them!

Treats and Cake

The treats I can not take any credit for.  My amazingly talented sister-in-law made all of them! Honestly, I feel sorry for those of you who do not have someone like her to help you out with things like thi, lol. But if you’re looking for ideas for treats check out the photo.  They all looked and tasted incredible! For his cake, I used a favorite photo of him to be displayed on the cake.  We ordered ours from our local Shoprite.

The party was such a perfect celebration for our fun-loving happy boy!  Fun was had by all!
