New Easter Egg Hunt Ideas

Easter is coming our way and this year I wanted to up our Easter Egg Hunt fun. With 4 kids ages 3 to 6 the average Easter Egg hunt isn’t a ton of fun (or always fair) for everyone so I went on the hunt for some new ideas. I wanted to find some new Easter Egg Hunt ideas that will be fun for all of our kids. In this post you’ll find the best ideas I came across. Some are simple, some a little more complicated and I have included links where I could to the original posts!

Have Easter Egg Hunts leading up to Easter

This is a good idea for a few reasons.
The kids get in some practice. For the younger kids this helps them get the hang of it. They have a chance to figure it out beforehand. That way you don’t spend Easter Sunday explaining and directing them through the whole thing. Also you can try a few of the ideas I’ve included here, see which ones your kids really love! Plus, it’s just a fun activity to keep your kids occupied and moving. I don’t know about you but I’m always happy to find different ways to get my kids moving and having fun!

Parachute Easter Eggs

This one is super simple and great for your young toddlers. You’ll just need a parachute or flat sheet. Lay your eggs on the sheet have someone at each corner and throw the eggs up in the air. Then the kids runaround finding as many eggs as they can! I have no doubt my 6 and 5 year old will also enjoy this one.

Color Codes Eggs

This idea is good when you have young kids of different ages. Each kid has a color they have to hunt for. So instead of having the bigger kids find all the eggs before the younger ones, everyone will find the same amount of eggs and same amount of prizes! Anything that avoids tears and fights is a great idea in my book. I will definitely be doing this one this year so be sure to check out all the fun we have over on our Instagram on Easter Sunday!!

Label Eggs with Letters and/or Numbers

This a fabulous idea if you kids learning their alphabet and numbers! Save some egg cartons leading up to Easter and label the inside with the letters and numbers. Then, as they find the eggs they can put them in the appropriate spot. A little education mixed in with some fun, bonus!

Memory with Easter Eggs

This one is more of a game than a hunt but still promises fun. Plus, if you get stuck inside on Easter Sunday this is a good one! Set up some solo cups and (make sure the kids are watching this part) put eggs under some of the cups. Then you can either have all the kids take turns or have a set up for each kid.

Activities inside the eggs instead of prizes or treats

This one is good if you’re trying to steer away from all the Easter candy and keep the kids super active. This link to the original post from Eats Amazing includes a printable page too!

Glow in the Dark Easter Egg Hunt

Who doesn’t love playing glow in dark anything, am I right? You can use a glow bracelet or those battery tea lights. I have 2 links for this one, check them both out to see which one you like best. The first is from Growing a Jeweled. And the second is fromA Girl and a Glue Gun

Easter Egg Hunt in the Dark

I don’t know about your kids but mine love anything where they get to use a flashlight! You can wait for dark and do this outside or if you’re stuck inside this can be a lot of fun too!

Easter Egg Hunt Tokens

Another good one if you’re looking to reduce the amount of candy your kids consume this Easter. Buy prizes and then the kids can redeem tokens they find in eggs for prizes they want when they’re done hunting. See the original post from Life As Mom, which includes a printable.

Egg Hunt Checklist

If you think your Easter Egg Hunts go a little to fast then you’ll love this one!! It includes a checklist of other Easter things that each child needs to track down. If you have younger kids you’ll probably have to help them out a bit but still so much for them! See the orginal post from A Mom’s Take to get the printable to go with it!

I hope you enjoyed this list and found a few good ideas to make your Easter Egg Hunts fun and special this year!! And be sure to check our Instagram this Easter Sunday to see what fun ideas we used!!
