Banners

The banners I used for my daughter’s party were from a printable party package I purchased on Etsy. It was inexpensive, easy, and came out great! Use the link below to see the one I used. Feel free to look around Etsy to see others. There are quite a few different styles so you’ll have no problem finding exactly what you’re looking for!

Also displayed was a photo banner I made. I printed a photo from each month, all the way from month 1 to month 24. I matted the photos onto color paper that matched the Ariel theme. It was a little time consuming but I enjoyed looking back on all the photos while I worked on it. Plus, it came out awesome and everyone loved seeing how much she grew month to month!

Centerpieces

I did a simple DIY for our centerpieces

The items I used to create these are

  1. Glass vases from the dollar store (sidenote: I have gotten so much use out of these vases over the years, it’s ridiculous!)
  2. Gold fish crackers
  3. Printable signs from party package I purchased
  4. Skewers
  5. Glue
  6. 3.5 hole puncher, much like this one Fiskars® Circle XXXX Large Lever Punch

I used the hole puncher for the signs. Then I cut bigger circles out of the plain pattern pages that also came with my printable package. I wanted them 2 sided, so I did 2 of each, glued them together on the end of the skewers and done!

As you can see in the photo above I also had balloons. I ordered Ariel balloons and a helium tank from Amazon. Check the links below to see the exact ones I ordered. I find it easier to do them ourselves than try to get to the store in the morning for pick up. And this way is WAY cheaper than delivery!

I taped the balloons to the bottom of the vase. Then filled them with goldfish and lastly placed the sign in. I was very happy with how they turned out!

Gift Table

If you order a printable package like I did, there will most likely be a sign like the one I had on our gift table. I put it in a nice frame and holder. Balloons or flowers look great on a gift table too.

Outfit

For a cute, personalized birthday shirt Etsy is the place to look. Below is a link to the one my daughter wore for her 2nd birthday. The quality was excellent, service was great and it was super easy to order!

Desserts

Desserts are the perfect place to dive into the underwater theme! Fruit is a must at any party so I created this shark mouth fruit bowl out of a watermelon.

And thanks to my amazing sister-in-law’s baking skills and creativity we had an assortment of mermaid-themed cupcakes.

And an Ariel cake, of course!

Favors

For the favors a sand bucket and shovel seemed like the perfect idea. Her birthday is in June so they were in every store. I filled them with a sand toy, bubble wand, Ariel tattoos and some candy (a few pieces of candy never hurt anyone, right?) As you can see in the photo below I also topped them with color coordinated tissue paper. Included in the printable party package were the personalized favor tags too!

Games

I didn’t go too crazy on the games for my daugher’s 2nd birthday party. It was mostly family and just a few kids. But the few things I did have worked great and everyone was pretty occupied and had fun the whole time! We did “Pass the Ariel”, sorta like hot potato but with a large Ariel doll. The kids got a kick out of that one. We did musical chairs, good for youngish kids. When they get a little too old it tends to get a bit crazy. I also had a bunch of beach balls all over, which were tossed and swatted around most of the party, proving to add some fun. And of course I had a coloring/crafting area set up. It was stocked with supplies to make a jellyfish craft out of a paper plate and streamers. We also had a big bubble maker, fun for the kids and also gave it that “under the sea” feel!

All in all the party was a hit! With just a few simple, thought out ideas our Little Mermaid theme really came to life!
